The claim that thousands of dead people voted in Georgia in 2020 put figures of around 5,000 (in public statements) and more than 10,000 (in a campaign lawsuit) on dead voters.
What the evidence shows
- Officials found four. Georgia's review identified a handful of ballots cast in the names of people who had died, in cases such as relatives returning a ballot.
- The campaign's own report was thin. A report commissioned by the Trump campaign identified 23 potential cases of impersonation.
- Margin. Joe Biden won Georgia by roughly 12,000 votes, and three counts, including a hand recount, confirmed the result.
Why it persists
Voter-roll errors are real, and a name on a roll is routinely confused with a ballot cast.
Lessons for readers
- A matched name is a lead, not a fraud. Ask for confirmed ballots.
