Propaganda is a 1928 book by Edward Bernays.
Summary
Written by the father of public relations and nephew of Sigmund Freud, this is a frank manifesto for the "conscious and intelligent manipulation" of the masses. Bernays presents engineered public opinion as a necessary feature of democracy. His campaigns included selling cigarettes to women as "torches of freedom." It's a primary source, bullshit explained by one of its architects.
